New Walks for 2020

Christmas is looming and once again, we’re thrilled to end the year on a high as we launch an amazing array of walks for the 2020 Isle of Wight Walking Festival.

With 20 new Walk Leaders and 45 new walks, next year’s festival is set to be another exciting year for visitors and residents of the Island alike. Amongst the usual highlights, we’re excited to host the relaunch of the Yar River Trail which boasts 4 days of longer walks from source to sea as well as the launch of the Wroxall Stream Link and Scotchells Brook Link – all thanks to funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund.

For those looking to brush up their skills, we’re privileged to welcome one of the Ramblers Roadshows to the Island on the first day of the festival. Usually only open to members, this is an excellent opportunity for both Walk Leaders and walkers to swat up on their navigational skills, footpath laws and first aid amongst other things.

If it’s family fun you’re looking for then why not join Gift to Nature and try out the newly designed Geocaching trail at Golden Hill Country Park? Our favourite storyteller Sue Bailey returns with more adventures around the Island including a new sock hunt and a moon walk plus Tapnell Farm open their doors and share their local knowledge of our diverse and beautiful landscape.

And if it’s shorter more accessible walks you’re looking for then we have some lovely new additions for 2020 including Golden Views, Royalty, Racing and Rigging and the Dodgy Knee Walk!

Online registration for all walks is now open so please do take a look and share away. Some walks do have a maximum capacity so pre-booking is recommended.

In the meantime, Merry Christmas from all of us at Visit Isle of Wight! See you in 2020!
